2 weeks in Argentina: Buenos Aires, Iguazú & Salta

By Pablo Pérez Sancho, tour guide in Salta · Updated October 2026

Two weeks is enough for Argentina's three classic sides: the city in Buenos Aires, the jungle at Iguazú Falls and the Andes in Salta and Jujuy. All three are connected by direct flights, including Iguazú to Salta a few days a week, so you never backtrack. Travelling between April and November, all three are in season.

The itinerary at a glance

DaysWhereWhat
1 to 4Buenos AiresArrive at Ezeiza, rest, neighbourhoods, a tango show, a parrilla
5 to 7Iguazú FallsFly from Aeroparque; the Argentine side of the falls, the Brazilian side if you have time
8 to 13Salta & JujuyFly direct to Salta; Quebrada de Humahuaca, Salinas Grandes, Cachi, Cafayate
14Salta to Buenos AiresFly back and connect to your international flight

Why Buenos Aires first?

Most international flights from the US land at Ezeiza in the morning after an overnight flight. A few days in the city let you recover before the domestic flights, and you can leave Buenos Aires again from Aeroparque, the city airport.

How do I get from Iguazú to Salta?

Aerolíneas Argentinas flies direct between Iguazú and Salta a few times a week, about two hours. Build your dates around those days. If they do not fit, connect through Buenos Aires: it adds a few hours but works every day.

What do I do in Salta & Jujuy?

Five or six days covers the whole loop: the Quebrada de Humahuaca and El Hornocal, the Salinas Grandes, the Cuesta del Obispo to Cachi, Route 40 and the wine town of Cafayate. Sleeping in Tilcara and Cachi helps with the altitude. Our 5-day itinerary has the details day by day.

Can I add Patagonia or Mendoza?

With two weeks, swap something rather than add it. For Patagonia, travel in the southern summer and shorten Buenos Aires and Salta. For Mendoza, swap Iguazú, or add three days if you have them. Trying to see everything in two weeks means more time at airports than in the places.
